Hello all, I need some help to setup a storage system and backup strategy for my company. We have several servers that different information and that are reaching its storage limits, so we are considering buying a NAS where all our data will be stored. Also until now, we're doing backups either in external drives or in DVDs. This approach has several problems (DVDs get damaged, external drives start to pile up, etc.) so we're trying to find what is the best backup solution for us. We're going through the pros and cons between tapes and VTLs. Note1: We're going to do daily backups. Note2: We're also investigating if server virtualization is a good approach for us so we can consolidate our servers. What do you think is the best solution for us? Thanks for your help! Best regards, Hugo
Welome to HWF What kind of backup do you use? A full backup of all data every day or an incremental backup (only creating a backup of the data that has changed since the previous backup)?
Hello RHochstenbach, Thanks for your answer. Well, at this time I do incremental backups for one system and full backups for another (for a database). Best regards, Hugo
