Hi guys, building my own PC, first time i've done it completely from scratch so need to make sure i've listed everything i need before i buy it all. The PC will be used for normal activities, net/word processing and playing games like World of Warcraft and Football Manager, nothing too taxing. Below is my spec list from DABS.com my budget being no more than £600, less if possible. Can you guys give it a look over and make sure what i've selected is all compatible and also that i've got everything : - Many thanks for any help (in advance) Dunc
Look at the help with new build specs a few threads down the budget is 500-600 it should be useful. I couldn't see your specs list may just be very limited work computer that doesn't usually show anything but text but did you attach them.
Hi, the spec was an image hosted at Photobucket, might be why you can't see it mate, but will check out the other thread, thanks
For those who can't see the pic, and also after some umm-ing and ahh-ing, below is the spec i've kind of settled on, the sticking points are the GRFX card and case. Total spend for that build is £550. Any comments welcome. Can see it now at home.... I am a noob but the mobo seems overkill and the graphics card could could do with a boost. You probably only need a p35 chipset as the graphics card won't make the best of your processor. if you could stretch to a HD 4850 you would be much better off games wise but yes much worse of in the bank. only other thing is if you goto a 550w PSU some future upgrades could be coped with otherwise you could struggle.
My friend why didn't you just post the links??? anyways here is what i think You aint got a lot of memory, try and get 4gb or at least 3 also i wouldn't expect a lot from that graphics card i recommend you get the ATi 4850 Also what OS are you going to use btw the PSU in the case probably won't be any good
Case and PSU were just an idea, the budget is £600-ish so i didn't want to splash out there if i didn't need to. I looked at the 4850 grfx card, but it was over double the price, taking me way over budget, especially if i opt for a better case. The mobo/chip/ram combo was recomended to me, hence why i chose it. As for more RAM, i don't do anything particularly RAM intensive, WoW is about as hardcore as my gaming gets. Is there a grfx between the 8600gt and the 4860? By the way i'll run XP, used Vista two or three times, and really don't like it!! Plus its cheaper, if i buy it!!
