Hello! I am new to the forum, but have a quick question. The CD/DVD drive on my PC laptop (Compaq Presario) has completely stopped working. It won't open consistently, and will read no discs at this point. I am not in the market for a new laptop, but was hoping to order an external drive as a substitute-- preferably one that plugs into my computer's USB drives. I would primarily be using the drive to access software, view DVDs, upload music from CDs, and burn data discs. I would really appreciate any drives that do these things on a modest budget. Thanks in advance! John
You can open the cd/dvd door from the front with a small straight rod, like a babies pin or a small nail... there is a small whole on ever front cd door... As for an external cd/dvd , you will want an all in one CD/DVD bruner... I use a Samsung, but Sony makes some good ones..
Thanks for the reply. I can see the hole that you are talking about. Is there a particular Samsung or Sony model that has a good reputation?
There are allot of good ones out there, Just choose a main brand..Look here.. Newegg.com - DVD Burner, External CD / DVD Drives, CD / DVD Burners & Media, Computer Hardware
