If the problem involves torrenting pirated materials or otherwise illegal and/or right protected stuff, please do not bother as you will simply be banned...... If in doubt, read the FAQ's first.....
best leave it there then cos im not too sure really, are torrents only used for illegal downloads or legal downloads aswell? ive been given summet whats in torrent file ya see. if cant go any further just let me know, ive read the rules just still not sure. dnic
No, torrents can be used for sharing anything. This does not mean that it has to be illegal. For example Linux installation CD's or DVD's. I am not sure I do. If you have a torrent file you still have nothing. If you use the torrent file to download something, then you need to know what you are downloading. Basically, without insulting your intelligence, anything which is copy righted should be paid for, unless the creator is giving consent for you to get hold of it without paying. If what you are or have been given is a copy of a film, music, computer game etc, it could very well be and probably is pirated. If you are attempting to download or have been given a file which is a movie called "Quantum of Solace" then you know what you have got. 'nuf said....
Torrenting is a fine way of downloading if there's enough people to feed off. If not, then it's very slow, and other methods might be more desireable if available. Torrents and the concept aren't illegal. However, due to it being used for pirating, it gets a bad rap. There's nothing wrong or illegal with using the torrent concept, and as long as it's not about where to get torrents of something illegal, we don't have a problem with it.
ok i get what yous are saying, im pretty sure im safe with this, so what it is, is when i try an download or put these torrent files onto my computer it trys to open it up by media player instead of openin up the files in the torrent, i hope ya understand wat im sayin cos im confusing myself, all ya help is much appreciated dnic
It sounds like you have not got a torrent client. Lacking the correct program, Windows sometimes associates files with the wrong application. You will need to download and install a torrent program like Bittorrent or Azureus. There are a number of good clients (programs) and they vary in functionalities. It is a bit like what colour is best.... I bet you will get a hundred opinions if you asked here which is the best. Just google for Bittorrent and you will see what I mean.... Make sure you have a good anti virus program....
i have summet called bitlord but still opens with mediaplayer, it was the bitlord program which i was worried about as i thought was the illigal part. dnic
download utorrent from FileHippo.com - Download Free Software then use it to open your torrent files . No need to worry about virus , file hippo is a 100% clean site which offers download of free softwares
Okay, with torrents, there's the .torrent file and then there's the actual file. It's like if you're downloading the file MUSICVIDEO1.mpg4, there's a MUSICVIDEO1 torrent file that corresponds with it. Make sure you're opening the media file not the .torrent. Check your torrent manager and see if it's 100% downloaded as well. BTW, the Opera web browser offers built-in torrent downloading. /Opera pimpjob.
