Hi everyone! I just built a new computer and i have a persistent problem. It turns of when playing games. I think its quite complicated. Carbon is unplayable. It i cant get through one lap. I can play Cod 4 for a longer time, few hours, and it wont turn of. I have completed need for speed underground 2 with only one turnoff. Rayman 3 works fine, lock on, Painkiler overdose and rayman 3. The turnoffs are random and without any obvious cause. To be clear, it doesnt reset. It turns off like if you pull the plug. After being deat for abou 2 or 3 seconds it starts up again. Windows never wrote that it had recovered from a serious error. Like i said the computer is new. It had never did this when doing normal things in windows. Never. I have been monitoring temperatures when playing Cod 4 and the processor doesn go over 40 Celsius, and the gpu over 68 Celsius, and the motherboard over 30. The sistem is not overclocked in any way. Everything is default. First i thougt windows was corrupt so i installed vista. Same thing in the same games. Ofcourse i have all the latest drivers and updates. So my comp. : Asus p5q pro C2D E8500 2x 1gb, 800mhz, ocz reaper (4.4.4.12) Sapphire hd4870 512 mb LC Power 8650 Ozeanos 650 watt Samsung F1 500 gb. I am very frustrated right now, because nothing makes sense. I have been asking myself if i had done something wrong when puttin the comp together. Double checked everything. Maybe i dont know what to look for. I could try changing one component at a time but i dont know anyone whose components would fit. They all have prehistoric comps. Please help and thanks in advance! P. s. I have tested the ram with memtest and a memtest built in vista. It found no errors.
I don't know exactly know what you mean, but I have installed 3dmark 2005 but it wouldn't start, and atitool doesn't support hd 4000 series yet. I think I heard somewhere, that a non 2.0 pci-e graphic card won't work in my p5q pro. Is that true? Thanks for the reply.
Sapphire HD 4870 512 mb; GDDR5 is my card. I also have a 8600 gt and an ati x800xt, but they say a non 2.0 pcie card won't function, and I don't certainly want to mess things up even more. Another thing bothered my right from the start. My 4870 card has 2 aditional power connectors and one them has a sticker on it with a Sapphire logo. Why did they put a sticker there? Does it mean anything? I have them both plugged in.
