Ive decided to start using my laptop and have got rid of ubuntu and gone with OSX Panther.

Does anybody know how to customize the dock? Its full of icons I dont want. I want to remove ichat, address book and the link to apples website and add a few of my own.

Is it just me or is osx a bit disorganised? It seems ok so far.

You can remove icons fro the Dock by just dragging them away from the dock. The cursor should change into a Cloud icon while doing that. You can add new icons by just dragging them into the Dock.

Zeus are you running OS X on a normal laptop or a MacBook?

If you're running on a laptop, how do you live without wireless and other hw support?

I have an iBook G4. 1.2ghz, 1256 DDR ram. 30gb hdd. I installed Xubuntu on it without even looking at OS X.

Canonical stopped support for powerpc around version 6.10 or 7.04. I used 7.10 and it worked well. I had wifi, compiz, sound!... it worked well. I uninstalled it because I want to consolidate my uses for computers to one laptop. Linux on my iBook wont easily allow me to synch my windows mobile phone. Nor can I use a comprehensive MaximDL type program.

So I installed Panther. I slowly warmed to it but MaximDL and MaxDSLR dont work on powerpc. I assumed they would work when I installed OSX. Schoolboy mistake! Nor would my camera be able to take exposures longer than 30secs cos Canon are awkward and make you buy a special serial lead. I can build one but the iBooks dont have a serial port.
I needed Tiger to install a similar inferior program (Nebulosity) So I downloaded it "just to test" during which time I lost my temper and decapitated my iBook with a right hook. Its now dead and I wish I sold it and bought a pc laptop. I only paid £100 for it about a year ago and they ebay for £300+

Im affraid my opinion of apple has reduced to "fashion accessory"
Not unless you are a graphic designer or something.

Xubuntu is still my primary pc. But I dual boot server 2003 cos im slowly working my way through the ms certs. Plus a laptop with vista dual booting xp. xp so i can login to the server 2003 domain. The vista/xp laptop is my girlfirends so its full of her stuff. I like to run a tight ship with my computers and having hundreds of mp3s, films, programs acer/vista/norton crap everywhere irritates me. With the ibook too I felt like I lived in 5 messy houses.

A new laptop with Xubuntu will do me. Dual boot XP for photography and domain login and my desktop for server2003.

Weird... I'm only running linux and I'm headache free. Well, except when I'm at work, fixing Windows computers. To be fair though, I can't afford the "luxury" that is Mac. To each his own.

People always say that, but what does a Mac offer than isn't available for Windows or whatever else??

    lol, not a clue.
I know there is a very good music sequencer (logic, i think) which is preferred by a lot of people over cubase sx which is what pc users like.
