I have a laptop on which the CD drive is broken, but I have promised to format the harddrive and install windows from scratch, in order for a friend to have it. I'm just wondering whether or not the external (USB) CD drive will work when the drivers are deleted in the process? I was thinking of an unconditional format (format c: /u) before installing windows from the bootable CD. However, before I can do so, I need to know that the CD drive will actually work :doh:
