Hi all, im new to this board. Im trying to copy data from my 80 gb usb hard drive to my hdd. the folders start copying but then the copying process is hanged. My pc is working but only the copy process is halted. i tried running the antivirus then too the antivirus hangs while scanning the hdd. Are there any tools to repair this hdd & how to get back my data. I am able to access the data only from the hdd. i cant copy them onto the hdd. some files get copied & the copy process is halted after a few minutes. someone kindly advise what to do in this regard.
the hard drive structure could be corrupt or could be on its way out...which means backup! if you have important files on there, try copying only those files over selectively rather than the whole drive. go Start -> run -> type "cmd" (no quotes) -> press enter -> type "chkdsk x:" replace the "x" with the letter of the drive, this should find errors if any.
