    Hi,
I have Mercury made Mother Board and seagate HDD. All is going well with this.

When I changed the HDD, only CD Atapi Rom is being detected as 3rd Slave but the HDD is not detected. But when I removed new HDD and old HDD is fixed, HDD is detected as 3rd Master and CD Atapi Rom is being detected as 3rd Slave.

I tried changing the Hard disks 3 or 4 times. But the same thing is being repeated.

Can Some one out there help me to fix this one.

    Thanx in advance.

    Welcome to HWF :)

At the back of each drive, there should be a group of 6-8 pins with a plastic cap on 2 of them. These caps are called 'jumpers' and are used to set one or more options. The options are Master, Slave and Cable Select. Refer to the user manual of each drive, or look for the specific drive settings on the drive itself or on the web. Then, remove the jumper and put it on the correct pins. I personally think that multiple drives on the same cable are set to Master.

You have the following options for the drives on each able: Set 1 to Master and the others to Slave, or set all drives to Cable Select.
