original system was : antec 900 e6600 8800gts (g80 640mb) 2gb 800mhz ram tagan 700w psu nvidia 680i but i wanted to have a go at watercooling, so i bought some new bits and in the process broke my graphics card so had to buy a new one : coolermaster cosmos s e6600 9800gtx+ 2gb 800mhz tagan 700w psu nvidia 680i +watercooling parts i put it all together, and it worked for ten minutes, then turned off. the problem was a capacitor had broken off the card during instal, so i rma'd the new 9800gtx+. i received a new card through my rma and rebuilt it. didnt work. motherboard received memory error code, so i bought some new ram to test, no difference. i noticed that on the back of the graphics card was a red light, so i thought that the card must be the problem. i checked it with a different motherboard (an asus p5b), no post, no beeps, no picture. after talking to this guy in the shop, i was told that the problem might be compatability, since the new card i got thru the rma was the newer version, with pci 2.0. so i bought a new motherboard with pci 2.0 support. and rebuilt it. still same trouble. i bought a power supply and another 9800gtx+. i tried the new power supply, same trouble. i tried the new graphics card, no luck. no picture. so, i have tried 3 motherboards, 2 graphics cards, 4 sticks of ram, two power supplies ..... i really feel like i have tried everything here .... the pc powers on, disks spin, fans go, water pump goes, motherboard power light is on .... but no beeps, and no picture. red light on gfx card. could it possibly be the processor ? could this have gone ? surely this would make the motherboard beep if there was a problem with the cpu ........... ?? the processor is the only component which i havent tried a new one, im reallllllly stuck
Welcome to HWF Just to make sure, have you connected the power supply to the graphics card itself? (PCI-E power connector(s))
