Yesterday my computer was up and running fine. I had warcraft up at the time. I went into the next room for a few minutes, and came back to find that my peripherals weren't responding anymore. My monitor displays the orange button as if it is sleeping, my keyboard has no lights and my wireless mouse has no power either. I attempted to restart and the comp seems to start up, but no peripherals are working still. I can't even get it to start in safe mode It sounds to me like my mobo is the suspect, but I am unsure what to do next, since I dont have any way to test the board. Here are my specs: Windows XP Pro SP3 Intel Desktop Board D865PERL 512 MB Radeon HD 3850 AGP Graphics card 3.2 Athlon Processor
Thanks for the response sniper. I have tried resetting the graphics card and ram. Still the same. I do not hear any beeps from the motherboard. The motherboard light remains on and everything sounds to be running right, just not getting anything from the peripherals. I might try a different graphics card just to make sure that is not the problem, but after that i'm clueless again.
Ok, another update. I realized my motherboard is not giving me any post beep. I tested it without the graphics card, and with different ram, and still no response. I also tried resetting the cmos by removing the battery for 30 sec. The board sends power to the dvd and cd drives because I hear them spinning up and the lights are turning on. Could this be my processor has fried? or should I still assume the motherboard?
