Recently I've been getting BSODs and random crashes. I thought I fixed it before but now its back. It's been coming and going for several times already. The first time it happened, I used prime95 and the torture test failed. Then I went and ram memtest and it passed. After that I rotated the slots of the memory and ran prime95 again. It passed. That was the end of that and I used my computer again. A month later it came back, and this time I ran everything again and everything passed. I even ran hard drive check from seagate itself (I use a seagate HD) and it passed. Again, I rotated my ram and it fixed itself. This time it crashed some programs on my computer and I had to reinstall it. My WoW had corrupted files and I couldn't even run the game. After fixing everything it seemed like it worked again. Now it's back...again...! Just ran prime 95. One of the threads failed. Says rounding was 0.5, expecting less than 0.4. Hardware Failure detected, consult stress.txt. Didn't run memtest yet, but still run that tonight. I used EVEREST to look at my PSU and I'm getting these: CPU Core: 2.22V Aux: 3.42V +3.3V: 3.30V +5V: 5.51V +12V: 11.55V -12V: -11.46 V -5V: -4.53V Are these too low? It's just the generic power supply from the Antec Sonata III case, in which I was told was powerful enough to power my setup. I run: Core2Duo E8400 @ 3.00 Ghz (No overclock) 8800GTS (No overclock) 2x2gb ram Asus P5K-E MB Seagate 500gb HD What's wrong..?? It's been plauging my computer for so long!! Any help would be appreciated, THanks!
Hi, those voltages seem fine,are they stable though? Whats the temp of your cpu? Is it possibel for you to get hold of other memory sticks just to rule out your memory
Hi. The voltages are pretty stable they fluctuate to plus or minus 0.1 of those... And as for ram I don't have any around that I canuse for a period of time for testing... The weird thing is corrupting my files. My game iscorrupted again and now ihave to reinstall again. Cpu temps are not high maybe around 40 to50 but I don't know exact right now I'm atschool.
I suspect your power supply... You might find this useful... The power supply unit in today's modern computer assumes a role probably more critical than any other single component in your system. A poor PSU can also cause other components to fail in your computer. The right Brand names = Quality Some approved Brand names follow... Seasonic - any model Corsair - any model Thermaltake - "Toughpower" series only Coolermaster - "Real Power Pro" series only PC Power & Cooling - any model Silverstone - any model Unless you are not into some serious gaming a 650 watt or higher will take care of your needs...PCI-E requires 26 amps at 12 volts.
