Hello I wonder if anyone can help me with a problem with poor video performance. My system is as follows: Windows XP Professional with service pack 3 installed. Intel Core 2 Quad CPU at 2.40 GHz Gigabyte GA-73BVM S2H motherboard 2048mb memory Sapphire RADEON HD 3850 ULTIMATE Edition Graphics adapter - 512 MB - GDDR3 SDRAM All the latest drivers have been installed and all the latest Windows updates Connected to a Sony 26” LCD TV via the DVI adapter and an HDMI cable. Initially without the graphics card, using the onboard graphics my videos would not run smoothly, with a stuttering motion. I bought the graphics card thinking I would get excellent video performance out of the box, but the performance if anything is slightly worse with the videos being very grainy. I changed the BIOS so that the graphics would run via the graphics card and not off the onboard graphics. Also I cannot play DVDs form the optical drive in Power DVD; I get sound but just a black screen. They play in WMP 11 but not with good quality. I have adjusted the video acceleration to different settings, this makes the video play in full screen in WMP 11 but still grainy at one extreme and at the other the video won’t play at all. I have also changed the screen resolution to various settings but this has not made any difference. I have installed the K Lite mega codec pack and again this made no difference. I am not very computer savvy so am really struggling with this problem, I cant understand how a decent spec PC like this struggles even to play a basic DVD, my rubbish old PC had better graphics performance than this! Any help would be gratefully appreciated. Thank you
