    Hi guys,

I decided I needed more space on my pc and purchased a new 500gb seagate barracuda 7200.12 sata hdd. Installation went just fine, pc detected it ok, I was able to format to NTFS, and I was able to transfer my files to that hdd. (that was two days ago)

Yesterday, my brother tells me that he can't find my secondary hard drive on my pc. Before I go about looking to see what the problem is, I restarted my pc. Lo and behold, there it is. I figure nothing is wrong. Afterwards I try watching anime off the secondary hdd, and it stops midway through, I go to my computer and the secondary hdd isn't there anymore. I restart, it comes back again.

I left the computer on overnight to see if it still shows up in the morning, and it did. But then when I try to use it, it stops working within 15 minutes. At first I thought maybe my power supply isn't providing enough energy, but I checked and I have a 480W power supply.

Anybody have any ideas or clue on how I go about fixing this? Thanks in advance.

New HDD keeps disappearing from time to time, don't know what's the reason. I'm not very computer savvy I need help.

My PC specs (old pc, i know):
    Pentium 4 @ 3Ghz
    ASRock P4I65G motherboard
    2gb ram
    win xp home sp3
1st HDD WD Caviar 250gb sata
2nd HDD Seagate Barracuda 500gb sata
    PSU EZmax 480W

Are you running Vista? Your hard drive is probably being set to turn off after a certain time - I just had this problem today in fact - how odd:)

Find the options in power settings - easy shortcut from the screensaver settings page.

Thanks for the advice ferg, I'm using win xp home atm. I've checked my power settings and "Turn off monitor" and "Turn off Hard Disks" were already set on "Never". I don't think that's the problem though. =(
