I have 2 pioneer dvd drives. Just recently when I put a cd or a dvd in to record onto, it switches my computer off. one is a dvr 109 and the other a dvr 111d. I have had these drives sometime and never had any problems. Also I use pinnacle instant cd/dvd and when I try and use the video side of the programe it says there is a registry error.I have used these drives for ages and have been happy with them but they now just switch of my compter when I try and record on to cd or dvd. Can you help please. Thanks Cas
very odd. try this start -> run -> type "devmgmt.msc" -> CD/DVD ROM Drives -> Uninstall both -> restart the computer, windows should re-install the drivers. see if that helps
Hi Thanks for your reply I have tried this about 5 times before and again today but it makes no difference as soon as I put a disc in the drive it switches off computer. It also says this device is working properly on both the drives. This is so annoying. Also whats this with the registry error when I use the video record with pinnacle. I used a different programme today Express Burn and it actually started the process but then when it came to burn it said cant read from disc then it switched off the computer again. Any more ideas would be great. Thank: again Cas
did you install/update software/drivers before this started to happen? you could try taking one of the drives out and trying it another computer to make sure it works. i think it might be a software problem causing this issue, maybe its the corrupt registry, considering you are getting errors.
I am still having the same trouble now my other DVD drive is doing the same. Its reads the disk then when you try and record it switches the computer off. They both doing it now and Im tearing my hair out. One is only about 2 years old and the other one is the one is about 4 years. I have uninstalled them both an reinstalled but it makes no difference. One was working and now they both switch off computer as soon as I try and burn a disk. Can you help thanks Cas
