So i am thinking about upgrading my computers memory and i know there a different cards out there; i've looked at ocz, corsaire and kingston. but i'm wondering if there's a difference. I mean is it like cars, where the brand matters, or does it not make a difference and i can get the cheep one and be fine.

    Thanks.

before looking at the brand, look at the other specs. Look at what speed it is, for example 667mhz or 1033mhz, this is also for compatibility as mohterboards only support certain speeds. Also look at the latency, the lower the number the better. Then after that look at the brand name, g skill or corsair are my personal recommendations.

PS it is often nice when the memory has a heat sink

I hadn't looked at g skill yet. I'll be sure to check the compatibility against my mother board. Great suggestion - thanks.
