i have a seagate freeagent go classic external hard drive (120GB),
the problem that i am having is when i connect it to the pc, i see the light
and hear the noises (that it is working) but it does not show on my windows (or any other computer). I think it was infected which is how it happened.
    Thank You.

    Welcome to HWF :)

If the drive is still new, you haven't yet created a partition on the drive. Use this guide to create a partition on the drive, and to format it (allowing the drive to be used in Windows).

i tried doing that, but cant because the windows does not detect the hard drive at all, so it is not seen in disk management

Have you tried to connect the drive to a different USB port on your computer?

Does the external hard drive include a power cable or a 2nd USB cable? If so, connect it to that as well.

    For a quick summary:

    - The lights of the drive turn on, so the device is turned on.
    - Drive is not visible in Windows, and also not in Computer Management (so the computer doesn't recognise it).
    - The drive is not visible on any computer, so it's not computer related.

This means that either the enclosure or the drive itself is malfuctioning. Do you still have any warranty on the external drive?

Does the enclosure of the external hard disk have screws that you can remove? If so, remove the hard drive from the enclosure and put it into a new enclosure (you can buy HDD enclosures in any computer store).
