I have an Emachines T3256 AMD Athlon xp3200 2.2ghz 448 mb ram. already had to replace HD, now has western dig 160gb 8mb cache 7200 rpm, not sure what else i should give you, help finding that info helpful also. I play online poker non stop, like to check my mail open sum pics, run messanger, not much of a gamer but would like to play new GTA game on here, I like to open multiple windows at once , ebay, classifieds whatever, not sure i need a dual core or? I know i should first upgrade this memory but 2 gb max cap I believe and thats about 85$ or so it looks like on ebay, wondered if i should get bigger processor or what to keep this for awhile or just retire it, Cant afford much as to a new build or buy, so maybe i should just use this till it dies . On top of all this i am only in dial up area, that being the case {wont spring for satllt} am I wasting my time doing anything? Sorry so vague, disabled vet here, not well versed in the this obviously. I appreciate you guys being here for real people. Thanks AL C

If you don't want to buy a new computer you could buy a new Graphics card, and upgrade the memory to 2 GB.

To upgrade the processor you would have to buy a new motherboard, which might need a new case. If your adding all this then you will need a new PSU (most likely, since it sounds like a pre build).

Will want a duel core for the new GTA, will allow it to run well.

So you could just upgrade a few things and try to use your computer for longer, or you might just have to get a new one. By time you replace everything to get it up and running you might as well just build a new one.

TY yeah it seems pretty clear just a new processor alone would warrent replace. I upgraded to the 2GB memory, havent used much yet but just loading alone took just seconds. I have new cheap LCD tv coming, my current video cards only have vga hook ups, tv is just 740 but has hdmi, wondering if I stay with current card should I go VGA to VGA or VGA to hdmi cable? Will it matter, Using info I provided top specs, what do I need to shop for if I change out card instead. Will doing so make substantial difference? Wanting to stay under 60$ or so and not have to change anything else big. TY again

I'm sorry i did not see that you were the same person helping me before. I went ahead and ordered the memory that you had linked for me, all went well as i posted, Thank you. I looked at eggsite agin and read the help section before posting this time. There is not much to narrow down for search there. I put in ddr but still get gddr listings, i tried to also narrow down to 2 hdmi outputs, it did not work, also thinking I should get a dvi and hdmi outs. Just hope all this was worth it with my little athlon , spent for the memory, I may as well do all that is cheap enough but give some bang for the buck in noticeable performance. Any other suggestions Sir?

About all you can do for this PC is put the ram at 2 gb and get the new card running.

Should run better but it will not be able to play newer games very well.

Thank you Sir, about what I figured now. Any suggestion on card? Do you know will new card to hook up hdmi worth the difference i should see instead of using the VGA hookups I have now. I think with VGA I need to run speaker jumper also. I orded that cable as it wont go bad or anything. You have really been a massive amount of help. I do truly appreciate it.
