I've just noticed that the final system requirements of Windows 7 are published. These are very shocking: * 1 GHz CPU (32- or 64-bit) * 1 GB of RAM (32-bit); 2 GB of RAM (64-bit) * 16 GB free disk space (32-bit); 20 GB free disk space (64-bit) * DirectX 9 graphics card with WDDM 1.0 or better Note that these are the minimal requirements. To get all the previous versions of Windows to run smoothly, you'll need to have at least double or triple the amount of RAM than is written in the minimal requirements of that version. So with Windows 7 (especially the 64-bit version), you need to have like 4-6 GB of RAM to get it to work properly
I found this on BBC news "Windows 7 will also have "comparable system requirements" to Vista, which should mean that if your PC is capable of running Vista it will also run the new version." I wonder how true that is  anyways here is the full report
