I finally got the ok for a new computer after 5 years. I'm on a crappy dell dimension 2400 right now so this will be great.

I have a budget of about $800, but I might be able to get $900. I need to buy an OS for it as well so that needs to be put into the budget as well. I'm going to be ordering these parts about mid june because I have to wait till the end of the school year to get them.

Case:Newegg.com - GIGABYTE Triton 180 Black 0.7mm SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Computer Cases

    Heatsink:Newegg.com - ASUS V72 92mm Sleeve CPU Cooler - CPU Fans & Heatsinks

    CPU:Newegg.com - Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz 6MB L2 Cache LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor - Processors - Desktops

    Motherboard:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813121348

    Optical Drive:Newegg.com - SAMSUNG Black 22X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 16X DVD+R DL 22X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 12X DVD-RAM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM 2MB Cache SATA 22X DVD±R DVD Burner with LightScribe - CD / DVD Burners

Graphics Card:Newegg.com - EVGA 512-P3-1151-TR GeForce GTS 250 Superclocked Edition 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards

    Hard Drive:Newegg.com - Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD6400AAKS 640GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Hard Drive - Internal Hard Drives

    4x RAM = 4GB:Newegg.com - Crucial 1GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory

Power Supply:Newegg.com - PC Power & Cooling S61EPS 610W Continuous @ 40°C EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply compatible with core i7 - Power Supplies

I plan on running 64-bit vista home edition with this computer. Do I need a floppy drive to install any of these drivers? Also, will all of these parts have drivers for 64-bit?

I plan on playing games like starcraft 2 and diablo 3 on this computer. I also plan on playing a gamecube emulator called dolphin on here. Dolphin is really CPU intensive so I need a high clock speed and a lot of cache.

I'm also wondering if I should get 320 gig Hard drives and put them in Raid 0? I would love the speed increase but I know that if one fails I'm screwed. I've never had a hard drive fail in my life so I dunno.

Last question: Should I get a duel core or a quad core? Most quad cores are lower clocks and they don't seem to be very useful since most applications can only use 2 cores.

Heatsink and fan included with cpu. So you may want to rethink spending money on that other one. Besides, it's deactivated now anyway. People seem to like that cpu though. Passmark ranks it at 71. However much water that holds. I like that case, and am intrigued by that eSATA port on your board. Hope you make use of it.

As far as raid I lean towards running my drives as independently as possible. Run two 320s if you like but I've had great luck by running a drive that's about twice the storage size as my necessary exe applications, normally 160, running as my Local drive and then for nonexecutable files (storage: pictures, music, movies) I run a second drive. Storage isn't effected by viruses executed on the local.

That is the same CPU and motherboard that I have in my rig...I think your PSU could be a higher wattage...I know mine is an over kill...but I have the Corsair TX 750 and I do not regret it.

I just built that EXACt computer for my friend, except he had a different case, asnd a 650 watt PSU.

Yes, I would go with a 650 wattage.

Newegg.com - CORSAIR CMPSU-650TX 650W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Compatible with Core i7 Power Supply - Power Supplies
    $85 after rebate

Trust me it will be much better, more power the better and it allows for way more future upgrades.

Other than that everything else is good.

Not- That board is said 5 sec boot. Don't believe it. Although it is very very good.

Also on that board, there is something called express gate, and it didn't work for me nor do I know what it is.
