I got a Microsoft Intellimouse which is pretty much the simplest one you can find on the market right now. But once I got more into fps gaming I realised it's capabilities are limited.

The problem I see is when I make a rapid and wide movement with the mouse. When disabling mouse acceleration, I have to do wide movements very fast to turn around while keeping sensitivity low to actually know what I'm doing. When I make such a movement, the cursor doesn't identify it at all, and not only won't it move towards the direction I want it to but it will go up or down randomly but on the same horizontal space.

What I want to know is if that's a mouse problem, a pad surface problem or even both?

IntelliMouse is laser, not ball isn't it? If ball, get rid of it.

What you described sounds to me like the pad problem. For laser, pad should be non reflective. If you have a vynil pad, that's reflective and not good for you. Pad should be made out of canvas, it should feel like a piece of stretched jeans to the touch, like this.

With pad out of the way, increase your sample rate. See attached picture.

If that still don't work, get a new mouse. Logitech MX300 is a good one, especially when used with PS2 instead of USB.

Well my pad is pretty much my bed, and I guess it's got the canvas feel.
I use my mouse on my sheets and it pretty much catches every movement except the movements I described. I might consider getting a new mouse and a pad eventually but as for the thumb you attached.
    Where are these settings?

ok, every mouse different place. You should go to control panel and mouse options. If it's not found, go to device manager, mouse properties.

Well I was hoping you would tell me I needed some special software for general intellimouse mice cause I had already searched for such a setting in control panel and after that in device manager and nothing came up.

In control panel there are like 6 tabs, only 1 of which is for my mouse actually the rest 5 are forthe touchpad and it got limited settings, like sensitivity and some other weird stuff like cursor trail. No other settings anywhere, there are no settings even for my mouse acceleration!
I should probably get a new mouse...

Man MX300 is a good cheapo mouse that does its job well.

This setting could be specific to PS2 mice only, and it might not be available on USB, on the other hand it might not be available with your mouse. I prefer PS2 mice, because there is no possible bandwith traffic hick ups, and you free up your USB ports for other stuff, such as scanners, and printers.

Try replacing the pad with something that's not glossy as you don't want a reflective surface. Also, if it's a PS/2 mouse, try using a PS/2 to USB adapter and see if this fixes things.
