I finally decided to upgraded my graphics card. The old card was an NVIDIA Geforce 8800GT (512MB), and the new one is an ATI Radeon HD4870 (512MB) I made some pics to share : Old situation New situation Just take a look at the size difference And here is some information from GPU-Z: I really gotta say that the performance is absolutely great. I can play these games at the highest graphics settings (yes with AA fully enabled): - Mirror's Edge - Far Cry 2 - F.E.A.R. 2 - Red Alert 3 - Call of Duty 5: World at War
hi, nice choice, I can see why you went for ATI because of that 26" T260 monitor of yours for the high resolutions and custom AA, it's a well known fact ATI perform better than Nvidia on high resolutions. How come you didn't upgrade to the 4890? I've heard they have excellent overclocking abilities and easily acheive over 1000mhz core speed or was that above your budget? BTW: what form factor is that setup BTX?
That computer is a Mac Pro (from Apple). There are only 3 options to choose for each upgrade. The options for this year where the Geforce 9500GT, Radeon HD4870 and the Nvidia Quadro (or how that's spelled). My old card was an 8800GT, so the 9500GT would be a downgrade and the quadro is too expensive.
That's a great upgrade I've recently changed from a 9600GT, to a GTX260 Core216, and it runs smooth now Hope you have some good experiences with your new GPU.
