Hello, i want to upgrade my older p4 3.2ghz to be able to run the sims 3 until i build my i7 rig over the summer. Can this card run the sims 3 ? What settings do you think i can run it at? here are my specs and a link to the card. Remember its PCI NOT PCI-E.

    P4 HT 3.2ghz
    2gb ddr 400mhz
    250gb sata 7200rpm
    maybe 9400gt 1gb

    Heres the card:
    Newegg.com - EVGA 01G-P1-N948-LR GeForce 9400 GT 1GB 128-bit DDR2 PCI Low Profile Ready Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards

9400gt is a quite low end card, i do not know the minimum system requirements of the new sims 3 but it is likely that you would have to play at mid-low setting with a lower res.

yea, i have a 8800gts pci-e from my quad computer i just sold to put towards a better i7 quad, so i would love to be able to use that card, but like i said im stuck with crappy pci. the minimum req for the sims 3 is a 128mb card, and a p4 2.0 cpu as well as 1gb of ram. i have double the ram, and a 3.2ghz ht cpu, so i figured this card may be able to run it on high. also my monitor is 1400x900 res. so there, are the min req for the sims3. do you think there is a better pci card, what would be the best i can get?(which would still probally be horrible)

pci is very limiting, i doubt there is a better one, but no, that gpu will not beable to run it on high with playable FPS

that evga would totally play sims 3 on high with your specs. not only do you have triple the requirements , but come on people we're talkin' about sims here , not crysis! sims has always been known to run high with low stats, it has never been a resource sucubus like fear 2 and stuff. and if you really want to pump up that pci conventional slot then use the sparkle 9500gt 1gig card shown here - SPARKLE Computer

ps- sims 3 requires a geforce 5900fx(the fx series was nuclear-grade crapola) 128mg to run on low. dude a 9series 1gigger would rock that game! even squeezed through a pci conventional. it requires a 2.0ghz p4, he has a 3.2(probably with hyper-threading)! and he has double the ram required. i say you could get 28-32fps on high , no prob.
anyone who says otherwise is just hating on bargain-gamers and not looking at the specs. they just want to say yours cant do anything so they can justify to themselves why they dropped 300-500 bucks on a card!
    -"blah, blah...you need a water-cooled overclocked 295gtx to get decent frame rates...blah"
pss-one of my buds has a 12gig i7 rig w/ a oc'ed 280 and some of his new titles move so fast he says they are almost unplayable.....so funny!
