    Is Kaspersky better than AVG?

I recently had my computer re-formatted (is that the right word)
by my IT man and it seems ok except he has installed Kaspersky
    Antivirus instead of AVG.

This really annoys me because it is always telling me things are a
'low threat' etc. Is there any way to turn these messages off?
or would that prevent it from working properly/block virus etc.

I am thinking of uninstalling and going back to AVG unless
somebody knows of a better antivirus programme.

Just interested in other points of view.

    Thanks:confused:

well Avast is also free for personal use, and i think it is far superior to AVG but then again i don't like AVG the only drawback is you have to re-register it about every 18 months what malware util do you use ? & how often do you update and scan ?

I normally install Avast on peoples machines when they need it, but i find the default interface rather anoying (it looks like a media player, you click 'play' to start a scan etc) so i always get them to pick a skin that they like (try silhouette 4 in 1).

make sure you remove your current antivirus before installing a new one!

I have Kaspersky installed also XsoftSpySE - paid for both of these.
IT man said Kaspersky automatically updates so I don't need to do anything with that but
XSoftSpySE I update and scan almost daily.

    Maybe I will try Avast.
I don't mind that it looks like a media player if it doesn't keep causing pop-ups all the time.

and I have to remove Kaspersky and XsoftSpySE before installing Avast?

There are allot of other FREE AV's out there, Like Avira AntiVir and comodo and PC-tools.
AVG is nice ,But I also di not use or care for it.. I prefer Antivir,It is the lightest and non bother sum Anti virus that is out..
