Hi There, i have a Emachines E4034 PC running Windows XP Media Center 2005, with 1.5gb DDR1 RAM, with PCI-E Graphics card (size unknown), 80gb HDD, Inetl Pentium 517 Proccessor.

There had been a problem with the operating system, it displayed some sort of message at windows log in page, a message asking to run CHKDSK, i tried to log in and the screen went smaller, it went werid and glitchy, i wast trying ctrl-alt-del but nothing then it rebooted itself, it sat there at the bios start up screen and did nothing, i assumed it was a hard drive connection fault, has happend before in the past, i jiggled the cables about put it back together booted it, still the same, swapped the cables over, and then it stopped going to the boot screen, i removed the HDD from the machine and put it into this machine, the working one, and it was working fine, you couldnt boot from it because there was an error with the OS of course, put it back in the old machine, still nothing.

So i tried removing thegraphics card swapping the RAM about, no change, then i noticed it stopped running one of the fans connected to the motherboard, altho the CPU fan and graphics card (when plugged in) worked fine.

Can anyone help me with this?

    Thanks

Will it go into safe mode ? You need to run chkdsk /r then run chkdsk /p and then
fixboot C: ....It sounds like a bad sector on your hard drive..
