Hardware problem

    hi,

    My pc confiuration is Gigabyte with intel 945 S-Series motherboard, Dualcore processor, 2GB ram, 250GB harddisk. Now my pc is not working properly, when i am copying from cd, writing to cd my system is getting slow and no other video or audio not playing properly video and audio are getting slow.. and when i am going to install ubuntu i am getting

    error, i dont know wat to do i do... plz can anybody help in my error plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

    Your error is ATA related. That could be a problem with a HDD, a cable, or a controller. Is the HDD OK? Try running a full SMART test on it with smartctl. Also, have you tried making sure the connectors for data and power are clean of dust, well seated and making good contact? If that doesn't solve it, please post a copy of your /var/log/debug /var/log/dmesg logs during the period of difficulty.

    All are ok, but recently i did RAW format 3times because of virus, after that i am getting these errors and difficulties, is there any Harddisk or RAM problems?

    RAM problems are easy enough to test for, just run Memtest86+ overnight. Even one memory error is one too many, so that will be a clear indication of a memory problem.

    As for the HDD, it's entirely possible that it is failing. What's the HDD's make and model?
