I bet a lot of you saw this player on woot.com the other day. Basically, it's an iPod knockoff. Does anyone here actually have the player and if so can you give your impressions of it? Obviously I don't think it's going to be a real high quality product but for around $50 most places I think I could grab one and be satisfied with it. My last MP3 player was a Creative Nomad II MG circa 2002 - I'm due for an upgrade, hah!

Here's a pic from Google image search.

I've never used one, but I do have an 8GB iPod Touch so I can give you that perspective. The Touch really is a really sweet piece of hardware. The battery life is very good, the apps are truly killer, and Wifi connectivity makes this as much a handheld Mac as it is an MP3 player. So if you are buying that because it resembles an iPhone or a Touch, keep in mind that you can buy a real 8GB iPhone brand new from Apple for only $100/USD. If you just want it for MP3s though, I'd shop around a bit more. I got my wife a generic 16gb MP3 player that's about the size of a Shuffle, but it has a color LCD... it was about $20 new.

The resemblance to any Apple product is definitely not a consideration. I'm looking for a cheap device to play music. I initially looked at this device because of the decent sized screen, which I like. Thanks for the input!

I haven't used it myself, but a quick Google search seems to indicate that the build quality is even worse than it looks, and the device is extremely fragile. What features are you looking for in an mp3 player?
