I have a CDRW/DVD-R burner but for some reason it doesn't seem to even recognise DVD-R discs. I have burnt CDRs before and that's no problem. It recognises CDRs just fine but when I try to use DVD-Rs I get an error message to check the drive and to input a disc... Any suggestions what might be wrong? Have I maybe bought the wrong kind of DVD (if there is such a thing)? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Not sure this is the info you asked for but all I could find was this: NEC DVD + RW ND-1100A Sorry, I'm not very good with this... Do you think it might help if I re-installed the drivers?
Have you tried different DVD-R media? Like, if you're trying Fujifilm and having trouble, try something else.
No, I haven't tried that yet. I bought some Panasonic DVD-R Discs, which don't seem to work, but don't have any others at home. Will try it, though, thanks for suggesting it. I don't seem to have the driver for the burner on a disc, but Ahead Nero came pre-installed so I imagine that's it. Maybe the driver is not up to date? Is there a way of getting an update on the web? Thanks again for replying.
Hm, just found the driver, but apparently it's only for installation in Windows NT. For XP (which I'm using), it should be pre-installed. I'll try with a different make of DVD-R. Hopefully it will then recognise the discs... Might also contact the customer service for NEC. Thanks for the link and the advice in any case!
Is the drive DVD-R? If it is then it should read them. But it might be a DVD+RW drive which only reads DVD+r discs.
You know, I think that might be what's wrong. I've checked again and yes, it says it's DVD+RW... Stupid me, it never occured to me that DVD-R and DVD+R might not be the same. How embarrassing! Of course I don't have the discs at home to try this at the moment but I will get some on Monday to see if it works. I imagine, though, that this will fix the problem. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
Hey everybody! im new here, and i hope this place will be able to help me out with my troubles. I have that writer also merk, it no like dvd-r's
I'm trying to see what I can dig up, but NEC's website isn't proving to be all that helpful (I think they just out-did Asus for crappiest website support----so it's really bad). I don't even know if there's a firmware update for it yet, but then again, I'm not sure that'd fix the problem.
i really do not have a great opinion of NEC DVD drives (not the earlier ranges anyway) i have used the 1100 - 5800A range and all of them i have had trouble with at some point :/
