I have an ATI HIS HD4890 Ultra installed and it runs games fine except the latest games. I'm having an issue with Assasin's Creed, Oblivion and Batman Arkham Aslylum where it revs up alot (gets really loud) and get really hot temperature wise. Its loud and hot all the time for Assasin's Creed but for Oblivion and Batman AA it is intermitent (mainly at high activity times). I have the latest 9.9 drivers and the latest patches for the games. I'm running on 64-bit Vista. Any tips on what to do to handle this?
Not to worry, these games are pretty demanding it would be normal for your system to get into "hyper-mode", if you will. Your video card and system are under much stress when running demanding games or applications and produce a lot of heat. As a result, your fans will run faster than normal speeds to decrease the heat. All you can do, really, is decrease the video game quality under the games settings. It should help a bit :chk: Tip - Get SpeedFan. Run it while you play a game and log the temperatures. Next, decrease the video quality of your game and run SpeedFan again and see if fan speeds and temperatures changed.
I ended up doing the following. 1) Uninstalled ATI Drivers 9.9 2) Turned off PC 3) Cleaned out all dust from CPU, GPU and fans 4) Turned on PC 5) Reinstalled ATI Drivers 9.9 6) Restarted PC 7) Tried out newest games This worked as the loudness has gone down dramatically as well as more consistant lower temps. Hope this helps other users
