I have a 650w power supply. Asus p5q pro turbo motherboard. 2g ram. intel core 2 quad 2.66gh processor.

i bought the motherboard and processor recently and had trouble with the processor before and sent it back to get a new one. i have everything plugged in but i cannot get any video to display. i have power to the motherboard and i took off the heat sink on the processor to see if it would get warm and it did so i am pretty sure it is not that again. please help, idk what to do. :(

Check your video card in this new motherboard. Make sure it's properly seated and has all the proper connections from your power supply.
And just to double check, you're not saying that you tried running your computer without a heat sink?

I took off the heat sink/fan for a few seconds to see if it warmed up and it did then I shut the computer back off. The video card is from my last computer and was working fine before I switched it into this motherboard. I don't know a lot about hardware, just the basics.

What video card do you have exactly?

Assuming I looked up the correct mobo is your card housed in the blue slot as opposed to the black one. I think you'd only use the black one if you had 2 video cards in a "cross-fire" setup.
