Hello, I'm sure I'm not the only person who's ever wondered if there was a system for eliminating the USB cable between USB device and USB port?

I have an OBD II dongle used for measuing, diagnosing, testing control systems in cars. It's a proper bit of kit, v.expensive. It works well connected to my laptop. But I wondered if I could convert to a wireless system where I plug the device into the socket on the car and then connect to it remotely over bluetooth or wi-fi.

The device uses a simple ordinary USB plug just like anything else.

So is there such a thing as a wireless USB cable? i.e. a transmitter I can connect to the device sitting in the car and a reciver connected to the USB port on the back of my PC.

Of course, searching for this sort of thing on Google brings up a mind-boggling array of wireless / bluetooth / USB adaptors - you would grow old searching through the 1000's of various uninteresting products that you can use for adding bluetooth or wireless to a computer via a USB port. Not what I'm looking for you see. I don't want to add wireless or Bluetooth to my laptop or PC. I want the USB port itself to be wireless!

    Welcome to HWF :)

Wireless USB already exists, but I don't know if it's already on the market.

Well I wasn't looking to invent it. I'm trying to get my hands on a device which will do it.
