You don't need to create a start-up disk. ASUS provides you with a utility to update your BIOS through Windows. Here's what you need to do (don't panic, its very simple): 1. Go back here: ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Support- Now select your Product, Series, and Model. Then select "Vista64" for operating system. 2. Next, download "Blitz Formula 1601 BIOS" under the BIOS [BIOS History] menu. It should be the first item under that menu and should be around 824 KBytes large. 3. Next, under the same page, download "ASUS Update V7.10.03" under the "Utilities" menu. It should be the very last utility under that menu and should be around 4.47 MBytes large. 4. After downloading both files, extract them both using WinRAR (click here if you don't have it yet). Now, use the "ASUS Update" utility and search for the .ROM bios file to update your BIOS! 5. You're done!
thanks for the post,i did this before i saw your reply, some very bad news as my computer after rebooting now only turns or around 10-15 secs and turns itself off and then repeats the same procedure again and again, after looking through the net its quite a problem updating the bios using a 64 bit operating system such as mine,i dont know if there is anything i can now do ,my mobo is a asus blitz formula speacial edition ,i beleive it is the bios chip i need to replace, but can i just pull this ut or do i have to solder this in and out ,or is there another way of resetting the bios
