Hi, I am looking to purchase a laptop, and I will use it for games as well as for school. I am not a computer guru, so I would appreciate some help with this stuff. I am choosing between two laptops, one is a Sony i5-520M, an Intel graphics media accelerator HD. The other is a Gateway i3-330M, with an ATI mobility 5650 HD. Both laptops have 4gb ddr3 ram. Which laptop would be able to play the high -end games such as Crysis, Bioshock 2 or Mass Effect 2, with better graphics and framerate? Thanks, and I would appreciate a response
I would go for the i5, since it is a faster CPU. In my opinion, when talking about laptops, the video processing unit is of far lesser bias to the performance than the CPU. CPUs are usually not as much played down as the video adapters, so, as long as you don't choose some lame GMA, which is not advertised to be HD, then it's fine. Playing games may be sluggish anyway. Don't expect to play games on high by using a non-dedicated laptop (like the advertised Alienware laptops). Long story short - I'd buy the i5 just for the extra processing power. The Intel video card will prob be slower, but the i5>i3.
