    So I was wondering,
I just got a new motherboard, and a heat sink with it.
I need to install Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound but I have a question.
The motherboard has a CPU cap, which is shown in these pictures of it: HERE
Do I apply it to the processor, the cap, or both? (Yes, I know what to do next.)
    thanks for any response,
    Josh

If you're referring to the stock plastic cap on the motherboard, than you need to remove it so that you can set the CPU in its place. That cap is there to protect the socket pins. Once the CPU is installed you can apply the compound ON the silver part of the CPU (the base).
Make sure you apply a thin layer to the entire base. Then set the heatsink on top of it.

remeber with thermal paste less is more spread evenly and avoid any contact with your hand to the cpu for finger oils from your skin.
