Some of the temperatures on my son's computer seem a bit high. His CPU varies from 30-50 degrees Celsius. The GPU ranges from 40-50.

His computer is an HP Pavilion Elite, Windows 7, 8GB RAM, Quad-core.

GPU : 40 degrees is quite normal at idle. If you have 70 degrees at idle, then you should be concerned and check the cooling of the card. 70 degrees under load, however, is absolutely normal

CPU: same as for the GPU - the lower bound, 30 degrees is not the best, but a OK temp when idle, 50 is a little out of the ordinary if observed at idle. Again, the upper bound - 50 degress under load is quite normal.
