Hey all, I have a strange problem with my desktop. Whenever it is booting up, it will stagnate at the Windows XP loading screen indefinitely - that is, until I hit it on the side like an old TV set, and then the keyboard lights flash and it promptly gets to Windows and everything works fine from there. I don't really hit it THAT hard, more of a hard nudge, but still... ...I could totally live with this, but I'm trying to sell the computer, so I'd rather avoid that kind of embarassment and subsequent price drop ("The computer works fine, except you gotta kinda hit it like this...") Keep in mind I just reformatted the hard drive to get it ready for sale. It's a computer that was built for me by a friend, AMD Dual Core Processor, 250 GB Western Digital HD, 2 GB RAM...don't have the other specs on hand but I can provide them upon request. Any of you guys know what this could be, and how I could fix it so I can sell this thing in the least awkward way possible? Thanks, -Jeff
could it be that there is some wiring loose or something? Maybe you should open up the case and try to re-plug the data cables... I mean, there should never, ever be a situation like that HDD's just hate to be hit - that can damage them beyond repair real fast.
I will agree, open the case a look inside for anything loose or undone. just might be a hard drive going bad..
