I'm using cmd- fat32. Also, it said "Format cannot run because the volume is in use by another process. Format may continue if this process is dismounted first. ALL OPEN HANDLES WOULD THEN BE INVALID. Would you like to force a dismount on this volume?" I continued (y) "Volume dismounted. All open handles to this volume are now invalid" Did I do everything correctly? I know this message is usually displayed when a user is attempting to format C: (or their main system drive). It is currently at 88%.
Why didn't you do it like this: Right Click on the drive in Windows Explorer > Format > NTFS > Start (FAT32 is, I do dare to say, deprecated)?
I'm using FAT32 because I need it to be compatible with another system, but I have it all figured out now. Thanks
