I;m replacing the HD in my Pavilliondv6607nr.
currently has a 160GB SATA 1.5Gb/s hard drive - 7,200 RPM, 2.5in form factor. I've found several SATA 3g and SATA-300 7200rpm drives, but i don't know if the SATA1.5gb and SATA3Gb would be compatible??

This thread says that there is backward-compatibility between SATA I and SATA II, but it is not all that automated. You'll probably have to check the motherboard and HDD manuals out to find out how to make a (specifically, the) SATA II HDD you wanna buy run at 1.5 gb/s (a.k.a SATA) - it can be fully automatical, handled by the chipset, but it can also require some jumper switching.
