    Hello!

Where do i start? Well, a couple of nights ago i was having some windows problems so i just decided to reformat the harddrive and reinstall windows XP on the computer. But before i could do that i wanted to see if i could fix the problem in safe mode. However, it would not let me go into safe mode, and now it didn't even let me get back into windows. If i wanted to boot normally it just stopped at the windows loading screen forever, and with safe mode the screen was just black with the little blinking white line in the top left corner.

I figured now i really have to clean the drive. So i booted from my windows CD and went into the setup. All seemed to be going well until i wanted to remove my old partition and create a new one. The list just said "<none>" and it wouldn't let me choose a hard drive to install it on or partitions to create/remove. I wondered what the heck was going on, restarted computer and tried to do an F2 system recovery. This time it said that it couldn't not locate a hard drive to recover. Problematic to say the least, so once again i rebooted and went into BIOS to see if the hardware could recognize it. And it could!

So i figured the HDD was probably working, and i figured maybe it was a RAM problem. So i ran memtest86, and it turned out that the RAM was okay. Now i have no idea what to do or what the problem might be, so i was hoping one of you guys could help or had an idea about what was going on.

I'm thankful for any help i can get!
    /Max

Try switching the SATA connector on the board to another port. For example, right now it might be connected to "SATA 1" or "Port 1"... switch it to another port. This should at least refresh some settings. Then redo the installation and perform a full (not quick) format.
