Hello, I am kind of a noob in computers and I have been trying to think a configuration in the last couple hours.
My question is at the GPU. it says in the specs that it needs a PCI-E 2.1 x16 slot. Does it matter for the motherboard if it is 2.1 or 2.0 at the PCI-E slot? or does it only matter that it is PCI-E. the motherboard has the next specification:
    ”1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x16
(The PCI Express x16 slot conforms to PCI Express 2.0 standard.)”
    Thank you,
    Dan

    Hi,

From what I have read a 2.1 pci express slot has the same speed as a 2.0 slot but has other features that are intended for pci express 3. I have read a few forum posts where people have used a 2.1 card in a 2.0 pci express slot with no issues, so I think you should have no problems with buying a 2.1 card for a board with a 2.0 pci-express bus slot. There is a difference in speed between a 2.0 slot and a 1.0 slot so putting a newer card that needs 2.0 in a 1.0 slot might cause a bottleneck, but not 100% sure on that part of it.

It does not matter. 2.1 and 2.0 are backward-compatible.
