Hello, I'm new here, and I was hoping you all could help me out with an issue I have with a 3 year old custom built PC. Recently when I got back from vacation, when I turn on the PC the keyboard, mouse, and monitor will not register. The monitor will turn on but does not display a screen. The mouse and keyboard do not register at all (mouse doesn't light up)... When I turn on the PC, it makes a few beeping noises and everything seems to be running okay in there. After around 15 seconds the small blue light on the front of the case turns off and nothing continues to happen. When I opened up the case, everything inside was caked with dust, so I took care of that. It is hard to fix a problem when you have no screen to look at! I appreciate all of the help.
Hi, I would try disconnecting all of the drives and peripherals first. Then try doing a minimal boot with just the cpu, video card, and a single stick of ram to see if you can get anything on the screen. When you turn on the pc, do the fans inside the case turn on and start to spin? Some mother boards have a light on them to show when they have power connected, if yours has one, does it turn on or does it stay off? If you have another pc, could you borrow the powersupply of that one to test in your problem pc? Its possible that the power supply has gone bad. You can also try to reset the BIOS as well. First, unplug the computer, then remove the coin battery from the system board and hold down the power button for 20 seconds or so to discharge the board. Then put the battery back in and try to boot it again.
