I have a monitor with DVI port but my laptop has only got a VGA port. Is there any way I can convert my VGA output to DVI input to monitor?

    Thanks

All you need is a vga to dvi adaptor. Costs around 10 to 20 dollars depending on the brand.

Does that means I can use my existing VGA cable and just attach this convertor at the monitor end?

I actually just tried plugging a converter to the monitor end and it wouldnt fit. The DVI male side will plug into the video card side but monitor dvi connector is a little different. Next to the long flat pin on the dvi connector is 4 small pins which a video card dvi slot accepts but there are no openings for those 4 extra pins on the monitor so it wont work. What I would suggest then is to get a dvi cable, and then get a dvi to vga converter that has a female dvi side and a male vga side which would plug into the laptop.
