Hi, I am new to this forum. My Pc is with VIA motherboard, Celeran 800 MHZ processor, 120MB RAM, 40GB Hard disk, 8 years old system past one month i am facing stating problem, when i pree the CPU Push on switch, RED indicator in the front side of the CPU is glowing, processor fan running, but No startup beep sound, No keey board LEDs blinks, No display in the monitor. When i press both the RESET switch & PUSH ON Switch Simultaneously two to three times, then my system gets on with beep sound and working fine. my OS was Win98, i changed to Win XP- still problem repeats. I found in motherboard - Two capacitors near the SMPS cable connector getts Heating up(Too Hot) and the top of the capacitor also Bulged. due to this the problem will occure? What could be the reason please help me any one. REgards Nithkumar
Hi, It sounds like the capacitors on your motherboard are starting to go. When they start bulging like the ones you have found, it means they are going bad (and as a result, the system board) and unfortunately would have to be replaced. You will need to replace the system board unless you have access to new capacitors and know how to solder them back on.
Yea! it sounds like it is going bad..I would not replace the motherboard , But replace the whole system.. Xp will barely run on 128 of ram...That computer must be really old.. If you want to get another pc for a good price,let me know ... I will get you some links to look at..
