    Hi.

I have a pc chip A21G v.1.1 motherboard that wasn't using for a couple of months, i try to assemble it and sudenly stop working correctly, doesn't recognize sata hard drives, i tried with 3 different disks in different sata plugs, i also reset the bios (jp2 jumper), take out the battery, load optimal settings from bios setup, even i considered update the bios butthe last version is already installed (current tools work on windows or dos but i use gnulinux), please my mainboard is dead?, bios seem to load normal when i unplug all sata hard drives when one sata drive is plugged bios seems to hangup, please help.

    Thanks.

How many sata hard drives do you have connected?

Some older motherboards had issues with SATA II (300) drives when they first appeared and had a jumper setting to render them in a SATA I (150) mode. I don't know if this comes into play with a SATA III (600) drive, so check the drive/manual about this.

Also, try a different SATA data cable just in case.
