Hello people..I have 775iG65 motherboard and Intel Celeron 2.6 Ghz processor ..I know its an old pc but i like it ...heres the prob ...few days ago computer suddenly shut down and I wasnt able to turn it on again. Since i had power supply problems before i thought is was the same thing and i tool power supply along with all other parts of case out ..I checked everything and it was ok ..so when i put it back computer worked but...CPU temeperature started to raise and it reached 80+ degrees of Celsius ..and when it reachs 85 degree computer shuts down ...I changed the cooling but it didnt work. Even after a few hours of rest my proscessor temp is always over 70 or 80 degrees..And when i use CPUID to check PC stats..i see that core speed is 1.8 Ghz and few days ago it was 2,5-2,6..I need help ..My PC is reallly slow and it keeps shutting down. :/
Definitely sounds like heating issues. You'll have to do some trial and error. Purchase some thermal paste, like this one. Remove the heatsink from the CPU and remove as much as you can of the old thermal paste ON BOTH the heatsink and CPU. Best way to do this: use q-tips and alcohol. Once removed, apply a thin layer of the new thermal paste on the CPU only. Theres no need to appy it on the heatsink. Reinsert your heatsink and check to see if the problem persists. This is probably the cheapest trial and run. Otherwise, you're looking at a multitude of other possible issues...dying CPU, old heatsink/PSU, not enough cooling in your system, or a cluttered case.
Solved the problem ...bought new cooler , put thin layer of thermal paste and it works just fine ^^ ty
