Hi, I wondered ... my experience with PC is normal but with servers, not so much, and I worked with some, and my experience is not enough as I would like ... and so let's start with that .. 1. Where is the best site to find information about servers?, something like a magazine 2. Now the true questions, hardware-based 2.1 What is the difference between a server and a very powerful PC for gaming in example? 3. For current prices, if you are looking for speed and power which is the most recommended? Thank you very much
From my experience, the main difference is the graphics portion. Obviously a gaming PC is meant to be used for gaming so a gaming PC would need an exceptional GPU along with a fast CPU and RAM. Servers can be anything from a small desktop to a whole rack. It really depends on your needs. Usually servers have large amounts of storage with redundancy (i.e. RAID) and can be multipurpose (for example you can have a single server with Apache2 and SAMBA and a whole bunch of other services.) For a simple home server an Intel i3 is sufficient along with 4GB of RAM but it really depends on what your needs are.
