Hello everyone, I am new to this forum and I came here because i have trouble finding an adequate cooling system for my ATI Radeon HD 5970 graphics card. I can't find any that are compatible, except for the Accelero Xtreme 5970 but it was discontinued for whatever reason. I don't know if I can use GPU coolers designed for cards other than the HD 5900 series and I'd rather not have to deal with returning expensive components. Currently, I don't have any stock cooling for the card except the tiny built-in fan and it tends to get pretty hot under stress (over 70°C). I would greatly appreciate any help that can be provided. I am planning to substantially upgrade my gaming pc cooling and so far I decided to upgrade to Corsair H100 CPU water cooler and their new Carbide 400R case for more fan space, if you guys can please offer any advice because I am no expert.

70 degrees isn't high under load. Don't waste your money on GPU cooling unless you plan on overclocking. You're fine where you're at.

Well I do plan to possibly overclock, and I also worry about the general lifespan of the components.

Right, well overclocking definitely depreciates the life of your card. What you can concentrate on now before overclocking is on your other cooling components. Do you have good case airflow? How many fans do you have?

Right now I have very bad air flow with only 2 case fans, one of which is attached to my current CPU cooler, the crappy Asetek 510LC.

Yup, I know. The 1 case fan I technically have is a front fan and there is literally no other fan space in my case that's why I am getting a better one as well as more fans. I appreciate your advice that I don't necessarily need gpu cooling but I still want to know, are there really no coolers that would fit my card, from what I've seen? Or do people use some from other ati radeon hd series that are compatible?

That one is designed to be used with a liquid cooling system that isn't a simple closed-loop one like the corsair H100 I'm getting. It would require me to buy a whole system with tubes, pumps, and coolant reservoir. Too expensive, too complicated, and like you said earlier, not even needed in my case. I was looking for a fan&heatsink cooler like the Accelero Xtreme 5970 I mentioned. For now I think I will just get the new case and more fans and see what difference it makes. Thank you for your help anyway.
