Short cut key to shutdown

Hi,

I need to know the process of shutting down using the key board.When I shut down my computer using mouse which takes so much time. If anybody help me about shut down with shortcut key.

You really have to shut down properly ,or you will damage your hard drive.. What do you mean it takes alot of time to shut down? How much time ?
