    Hello :)

I have registered here to ask for your help, please, with selecting new hardware for my PC. My budget isn't too high and I've done some research, but in all fairness I haven't been reading about developments in this area in 7 years, and everything is baffling me, and seems highly complicated.

I have a Dell pc, of which I have attached the specs in a file to this post, which currently has a Nvidia Geforce GTS 240 card. It has been overheating for a good year with shutdowns becoming more and more frequent. I have tried everything to fix, including a wide array of drivers of different versions, airblowing, reinstalling windows, downclocking (if this is even a word), etc. So now I decided to replace, hoping this will fix the issue once and for all.

However, I will likely require a new PSU, as mine only supports 350 W. I read Dell ones in fact pump out a lot more; regardless, if you quite agree, I think it'd be wise to upgrade this too?

I can spend 150-200 euros in total, and realizing this is not a whole lot, I beg you to bear with me in my current financial situation. I'm a gamer, but do not require to play Crysis-like games on full HD, or anything, I play WoW, Starcraft2, Diablo3 soon, HOMM, that kind of stuff. I simply want a card that can do all gaming tasks in an acceptable manner, of which I ask it to run WoW in as smooth a fashion as possible, as I raid high end and need all the performance I can get.

    Thank you for your time.

Edit: If this pricerange is indeed too low, waiting a bit for my birthday may allow me to buy more expensive hardware, at maximum 300 euros. I would appreciate your thoughts on this too.

    Hi,

There are a few good mid range cards that should work for you that are not too expensive. If you do not mind using radeon instead of Nvidia cards, you can check out a Radeon 6770. It's around 110 US dollars right now. If you have more to spend though, you may want to look at a Radeon 6850, or if you want Nvidia you can look at a Geforce GTX 460 (these cards are around 160 US dollars). Getting one of these cards should leave you plenty of money to get a new power supply as well. Check out the minimum recommended wattage for which ever card you decide upon. I think most of these cards recommended at least 450 -500 watts. Also, when choosing the power supply, make sure you go for a good quality power supply, not a generic brand as these tend to be less efficient and use cheaper parts in them. I use thermal take and PC Power and cooling brands in my computers, but if you check out Big B's sticky in the power supply section you can find a bigger list of recommended manufacturers of power supplies.

If you can save up enough money, you may want to get a Nvidia 560 ti. They run really well, but are a bit more expensive. They can start around 220 us dollars and up, but they do a really nice job, but any of the other cards listed above should be good for gaming as well :)
