I'm looking into replacing my motherboard and CPU. I had money saved up to get a new CPU but my 2009 computer had an LGA 775 socket. =.= Anyways, I was looking online for something that would do me good for a while. It uses LGA 1366, here is the newegg link for it. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131390&Tpk=Motherboard Gamer Now, assuming that is a pretty decent motherboard, can someone suggest a good processor within a budget of 200 dollars? Regards, Deagonx
The problem I see is that LGA1366 is a dead end. Intel is only producing desktop CPU's for LGA1155 and the upcoming LGA2011 for Sandy Bridge-E processors, the latter is taking over the LGA1366 spot. Asus is a fantastic company, and that board would do you well. It's not that the LGA1366 processor are total junk, just that there's something that active and available. Of course, if you're going to stick with LGA1366, here's all 5 CPU's Newegg has for the platform, starting at $260. In contrast, you can pick up an i5 2500K (the 'K' designates an unlocked core should you wish to overclock at some point). Additionally, this is one of the more expensive options on the LGA1155 socket, and the Sandy Bridge architecture is more powerful than what you have with the previous generation. It's worth pointing out that well-featured LGA1155 motherboards can easily be had for half the cost of that X58 board you're considering. As for LGA2011, I just saw pricing on those chips starting at around $300. I would imagine the motherboard pricing would be in line with the 1366 boards as well. Just some food for thought.
